So you now know a bit more about GeoCaching and the Caches around San Diego State University.  Hopefully this gets you excited about more GeoCaching elsewhere.  Below is a few helpful links to enable you on your quest for the Cache!

  • Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site

The Official Geocaching website is the inspiration website for this one.  While we focus on Caches around San Diego State University, this site connects members from around the world and their Caches.  This site does require membership for access to the Cache GPS coordinates and helpful clues that may be provided.  There is a free membership for those who just want to treasure hunt, and a paid membership for added perks such as posting a hidden Cache.  Check it out.

If you are having trouble accessing and viewing the KML files, it is probably because Google Earth is not loaded onto your computer.  This is where you can download Google Earth for free.  There are free tutorials, tours, and help sections all at your fingertips if you are a first time user.  I suggest you don't buy the Google Earth Advanced or Enterprise Solutions.  For a general user as yourself, the free product is best.

If you want to know more about Global Positioning Systems (or better known as GPS), this is a perfect website developed by the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Coordination Office and hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center.

  • Geocaching Resources
    • Geocaching Game Help and Merchandise
      • http://geocacher-u.com

If you have any questions on how to Geocache, (find or hide one) this is a great site!  There is also some great merchandise (t-shirts and books) for the Geocacher lover.  They also have E-Cards with Geocaching as a main theme.

    • Other Geocache Sites
      • http://www.navicache.com

One of the first Geocaching sites.  This is a free membership site.  However it does not have as many Caches as the "Official Site" above.

Another free Geocaching site.  It is dedicated to the community spirit of Geocaching and again does not have as many Caches.  You do need at least 2 sponsorships to view caches, log finds, and submit caches of your own.  Within the first hour I tested this, I got one offer of sponsorship.

Geocaching in Estonia!  Be sure to click the English Page link for an English translation.

Geocaching in Australia!  This is very similar to the "Official Geocache" website listed at the top of the page.
