Statement of Purpose
Emphasizing the philosophy of community oriented policing; The San Diego State University Police Department participates in delivering the university mission and strives to create a safe environment conducive to academic excellence. Even though University Police works closely with neighboring police agencies and employs security measures to reduce and prevent crime, we believe security is everyone's responsibility.
One way to provide support for this philosophy is working together with our own campus com munity. Through efforts between the Geography Department and the SDSU Police Department, this web page will offer some visual tools to communicate the types of crimes that occur on our campus. This web page is to act only to supplement the current annual disclosure of crime statistics, which is available through the Safety & Security Report. This is available on-line at: http://www.dps.sdsu.edu/recordstats.ht
This project is to help assist in educating and informing our campus community. SDSU Police Department is available for further support and training on alcohol and the law, sexual assault prevention, personal safety, drug use and abuse, Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) classes, and how to be a responsible member of our campus community.
