GIS DAY at San Diego State University November 16, 2005 |
Open House and Faculty Presentation
San Diego State University Geography Department collaborated for the National Geography Awareness Week and National GIS Day. Events were held for visiting high school students from Helix High School and college students from SDSU to learn about the career opportunities that are available in the field of Geography, especially Geographical Information Science. An open house was sponsored by the department, where students could attend presentations given by the faculty and also meet with them at a special reception afterwards. A GPS Treasure Hunt was also available for students to participate in. Another event showcased a career forum of community leaders from local government agencies and private companies, who discussed career opportunities in GIS. National GIS Day events were highlighted on the SDSUniverse website in an article titled A Spatial Look at the World written by Tommy Ishida.
