Chollas Creek, located in City heights, is currently receiving a great amount of care and is producing county wide recognition for the amount of community participation there has been in enhancing the state of this place. If you hike around the canyon you will see that there is still a lot of work to be done, but the city is currently planning to enhance this place to its deserving safe, clean and sustainable state. Hikers are able to walk alongside canyon, but not necessarily inside it.
The picture on the left is of a dead chicken wrapped in burlap! Despite the efforts, this canyon can still be described as a dump site. Invasive ice plant is very common in San Diego county, the removal of this patch would be an example of work that volunteers would perform to restore the area to its natural state.
