VEGETATION
There are many different vegetation types
found within the park. The dominant vegetation type within this region is
coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and riparian. Along the paved road flows the San
Diego river; within this area it is common to find Coast Live Oak, Fremont's
Cottonwood, Chaparral Broom, Matilija Poppy, and others. Outside of the riparian
zones you will find the coastal sage scrub ecosystems. Here you will find different plant species, mainly Black Sage, Flat Top
Buckwheat, Yucca, Laurel Sumac and others. On the eastern side of the park you
will find species characteristic of chaparral communities. In these areas it is
common to find Manzanita, Toyon, Lemonadeberry, and Ceanothus species. The north
side of the park contains a large grassland, but it is also common to find
plants such as White Sage, Chaparral Broom, Deerweed, and others.
