Mission Trail Regional Park encompasses more than
6,000 acres of both natural and recreational land. The park consists of 40 miles
of trails, boating, camping, and an informational visitor center. As one of the
largest urban parks in the United States, it is a pleasant escape for locals
looking to get away from the vastly growing urban and regional development in the San
Diego area. The park is a reminder of what San Diego once looked like, and the
habitats and ecosystems endemic to the region. It is an excellent place to
examine the array of native vegetation unique to our city.
