Horton plaza is the premiere mall of San Diego and is located in the gaslamp district. It was named after Alonzo Horton, an influential figure
in the orginal development of the downtown area. The mall was radically redeveloped in 1985 under the guidance of the Hahn company which chose
an orginal mall design which emphasized artistic architecture over the merchandise. The result was largely sucessful and the mall currently drives in
millions of people every year. It provides San Diego with the highest sales per unit area within the whole county.
